Alícia Grau divides het working time Barcelona and Florence (Italy). She has attained an artistic reputation amongst the artists of her generation and her works are, right now, spread all over the world. Her work is characterized by an exquisite drawing technique. She basically uses oil paint and children portraits, feminine figures and still life, although she also eventually paints urban themes, all of them with delicate impressionist reminiscences.
ANDREU FRESQUET
Badalona, 1940.
He had, since he was very young, a firm conviction, He wanted to become a painter. And as his interest in painting was increasing all the time he joined the Escola d'Arts i Oficis. Later on, he attended the Central School where he had García Morales, Jaume Muxart and Joan Moncada as professors.
With some friends he formed the Trec Grec group. He first exhibits in 1963 at the Entitat Cultural A.C.C, in Cartagena. He begins to attend some quick painting contests and wins many of them. These competitions allow him to meet other painters with whom, in 1967, he would constitute the artistic group Sala d'Art Modern.
These years are followed by a training period at the Escola d'Arts del Llibre, in Barcelona, and at the Escola Internacional de Pintura Mural Contemporània, in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Indefatigable painter, he has continuously exhibited in Barcelona, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Gerona, Martorell, etc. And abroad, in the United States, Germany and Belgium.
The two basic subjects of his paintings are the human figure and the still life, where a very precise drawing shapes the form whereas color and glaze cover the surface. The actual protagonists of his work are movement and dynamism.
CARITAT GÓMEZ
Barcelona, 1951.
Since her school days she was convinced she wanted to dedicate her life to painting and her family gave her all the support she needed. Once she finished her school term she joined the Escola Massana and the following year she entered the Fine Arts School, to follow the painting and sculpture specialties. In painting she had as professors both Lluïsa Granero i Puigdengolas.
When her studies were over she chose painting and started to take classes in drawing. Valeria Renart, a very cultured person that she considered as her teacher, greatly influenced her training years.
In the year 77 she presented her first individual exhibition at the Palau dels Comptes, in Centelles. Ever since, she has exhibited in other Catalan cities (Montblanc, Esplugues, Barcelona, Sant Cugat...).
In her works human figure is one of her basic subjects that she manages to capture very spontaneously. She also paints landscape, composition and interiors. Her paintings are descriptive and intimate. Very much influenced by light and color she outlines shapes to the right point, with a free and loose brushstroke.
GLÒRIA MUÑOZ
Barcelona, 1949.
When she finished her baccalaureate she joined the Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi, where she followed its painting courses. She had as professor the well known Puigdengolas who introduced her to the world of painting and through whom she met painters like Anglada Camarassa, Meifrén, Mir or Rusiñol.
She was always interested in travelling abroad: Italy, France, England and the United States. Discovering abstract painting took her to experimenting and constant reviewing the traditional painting concepts. In 1978 she presented her first exhibition at the Grifé & Escoda Gallery, in Barcelona. And, ever since, she has kept on exhibiting in Barcelona, along with other Catalan cities like Granollers, Sitges, Gerona, Vic... Also in New York, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, London and Geneva.
In 1975 she founds the workshop Taller de Dibuix i Pintura in Barcelona, with the purpose of forming new artists. As of 1985 she also becomes a painting professor at the Fine Arts Faculty of the Barcelona University. In 1990 she receives her Cum Laude Doctorate in this University.
Interiors and still life are the basic preferences for this painter. Lonely flowers, old relics, familiar souvenirs... always under an enigmatic light-Diffuse lights, transparencies and reflected lights, help creating a certain mysticism.
M. MAYORAL G.
Zaragoza, 1926.
He went to Barcelona very young. His first contact with the world of art was at home his father being a well known and prestigious collector. He studied at the Academia de Belles Arts and at the Academia Tàrrega, of Barcelona. He was a disciple of painter J. Oliver i Legarés, master of landscapers. His first collective exhibition dates back to the year 1944, and a few years later he will present his works in Paris. Ever since, he will not cease to be connected with the artistic world and his career will develop both nationally and internationally.
His works have been exhibited in Milan, Geneva, Wien and Brussels and they also form part of private and public collections in Japan, U.S.A., Italy, France, Belgium and Mexico.
He is a colorist insofar he employs a varied assortment of color ranges, although he always avoid any violent chromatic conflicts. In his paintings light and color are everything. He uses oils softly, without any excesses; by giving each painting and atmospheric richness that embellish the city he is painting. The cities of Barcelona, Madrid, and the Costa Brava and the Asturias region appear very frequently in his paintings. Their great panoramas are extraordinary for, despite the problems they imply, they allow him to place every element where it belongs.
He has become a perfect landscaper that knows how to show what he likes while allowing us to understand, for instance, the pleasure that brings to our spirit a misty sky, a wet beach or a set of white sails in the horizon.
JOSEP POMÉS
Tarragona, 1940.
Since very young he was very fond of drawing and soon enough he felt the need to start learning.
When he was 18 year old he went to live in where he registered as a member of the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc (Saint Luke Artistic Centre). Later on, he met the painter Pascual Bueno, who gave him drawing classes. In the 60s he participated in different contests, which impelled him to dedicate himself full time to painting.
He became acquainted with a group of young painters with whom he rented a small place in the street Petritxol, which they named Sala d'Art Modern (Modern Art Hall), where they celebrated both individual and collective exhibitions. Amongst others, there were: Andreu Fresquet, Cruspinera, Mario Bedini, Soler Pedret, etc. In this hall he presented his first exhibition, which was followed by many others in Tarragona, Gerona, Madrid, Pamplona, Mataró, Cartagena, Balaguer... and also abroad in Miami and in New York.
He works within a neo-impressionist trend with courageous brushstrokes and a great sense of drawing and colour. He paints landscapes, always live, although in his production we can also find seascapes and still-lifes. He is an intimist painter who seeks depth and backlighting while giving his works a great descriptive force.
PAGANS MONSALVATJE
El Masnou, 1932.
In 1950 he starts his apprenticeship with professor Saturo López and tries to combine his classes with night classes at the Escola de Belles Arts, of Barcelona. However, the excessive academicism criterion of the latter forces him to give them up very soon.
In 1953 he starts participating in several collective exhibitions and contests, where he obtains his first prizes: Reial Cercle Artístic (Royal Artistic Circle) prize for the Barcelona City Hall contest of novels' works and the Rafael Llimona prize for young painters from the Sala Parés.
In 1955 he travels for the first time to Paris. A year later he starts working in Josep Roca Sastre's workshop where he learns the abstract aspects of painting: shape, color, construction and rhythm.
In 1959 he presents his first solo exhibition in the Sala Municipal of Gerona and, later on, he makes his presentation in Paris. In Barcelona he presents his works in 1962. After that he has kept on constantly exhibiting in these and other cities of Catalonia and the rest of the State.

ROZAS
Montblanc, 1944.
When he was 5 year old he went to live to Ripollet. There he grew up; he studied and dreamt of becoming a painter. When he was thirteen he felt a great interest for drawing and started to work as a draftsman in an architect office. However, he continued to be interested in drawing whereby he registered at the Catalonia Aquarellists Group where he started to receive classes from José Ruiz. A year later it was painter Martínez Lozano who was teaching him. He discovered the world of fast painting which happened to be a good school for him they consist in facing a short term challenge that, at the same time, helps your training.
As a full painter he presented in 1979 his first solo exhibition at the Galeria Rivas, of Barcelona. As of that moment he decides to devote himself entirely to painting and starts exhibiting in Catalonia and in the rest of the State. His works also appear in private collections in France, England, Germany, the USA, Mexico, etc. Besides, he has received many prizes: The prize from the Diputació de Gerona, Honor Prize of the city of Balaguer, First Watercolor Prize, at Palamós and in many other Catalan towns.
He works with oil and watercolor. In his watercolors the color flows fluently by forming spots of color which he props up with descriptive strokes. For his oils he uses great fillings by alternating the brush with the spatula.
He is very interested in color which he uses in a very effective way (greens, browns, purples, ochre, blues...), to create somewhat unreal but attractive ambiances. His painting has a strong personality with a great dominion of technique, perspective and color.
