He was born the 1st of July of 1969, in Kutaissi (Georgia). Still a child he starts painting helped by his family, where it has always existed and still exists, a long tradition of persons connected with the world of art. When he is only 10 year old he registers at the Kutaissi art school.
Between 1990 and 1995 he studies at the Tbilisi (Georgia) Art Academy where, once his studies over, he works as drawing and painting teacher. In 1998 he comes to Spain, and settles down in Barcelona.
He has exhibited in many well known art galleries in Barcelona, Gerona, Valencia, Paris, Tbilisi, Kutaissi...
In his works Irakli depicts the popular iconography of his people and his country, basically represented by a static and unhopeful travelling through time and space in great barges or emigrating in caravans, looking for a better world.
Thus, the origins of this artist gives us the clue of his characteristic style, where we can see mixed oriental influences (faces reminding us of the byzantine icons) with the western ones. To contemplate his works is to enter a dreamlike world where we find a series of animals (birds, fishes, giraffes...) and objects (cart wheels, jars, funnels...) very repetitive in his paintings. However, glances are mostly a constant in his work; gloomy glances with a great hypnotic strength that makes us plunge into his world.
