A very elegant work of art, followed by a realistic and ¬skilled emotional response is what Josefina Ripoll (Barcelona 1936) accomplishes in her oils. Her works are born out of drawings, which are truthful representations of models that, in turn, are open to new pictures created by her paintbrushes, which they assume the calligraphy from, while averting any doubts and approaching the conviction that she is not falling into any mistakes when creating the emotional poetry of her work. And this is not surprising: her special dedication to fashion design as well as to theatrical clothing along with an intense study of the fresco techniques and of the natural figure, are easily perceptible in her works, and communicated in a figurative-realistic language that knows its expertise and how to use it.
A painter with a great sensibility, her flowery works and her still-lifes go beyond what is considered figurative art. Josefina Ripoll's paintings unquestionably show her acquaintance with the technique along with a perfection in the details and in the entirety, as well as her ability to make the esthetic discourse effectual. But what abounds most is her sensibility that shows a wide assortment of human virtues which the artists transmits in a very simple way into her works. This is why, while never giving up their personality, her works have such global beauty that can be interpreted by the onlooker according to his/her own particular experiences.
Lemons and quinces, blossoming almond trees, still-lifes with Mediterranean fruits and other examples of those issues that better symbolize her, reaffirm us in our own feelings and behavior which we endeavour to transmit to those coming behind us. Nature knows how to repeat itself in its cycles to keep always fresh, young and authentic; and this is what also happens with Josefina Ripoll's paintings.
