History of the gallery

The RUSIÑOL GALLERY was inaugurated in 1986, by Mr. Ignasi Cabanas , son of a well-known family of artists, residents of the city of Sant Cugat del Valles. From its beginning, they displayed exhibitions of reputed artists favoring figurative painting, although the Gallery has not ignored the wide range of paintings going from “realism” to the new figurative styles.

2007 21th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Aguilar Moré.
2006 20th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with the main exhibition of Francesc d’Assís Casademont “Le Vieux” and homage of Mr. Francesc d’Assís Galí.
2005 Inauguration of the new website www.salarusinyol.net.
Homage-Exhibition to Miquel Cabanas in memory of the tenth anniversary of his passing away.
19th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Manuel Blesa.
2004 18th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Martínez Lozano.
2003 17th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Joan Capella.
2002 The Rusiñol Gallery receives the visit of the Most Honorable Jordi Pujol i Soley, President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
16th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Lluís Roura.
2001 15th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Joan Martí.

14th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Joan Abelló.

1999 13th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Manuel Mayoral G.
Presentation of the book “Temporada 1997-98” (1997-98 Season) and 11th Dinner with painters.
1998 12th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Estrada Vilarrasa.

1997 11th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Francesc Vilasís-Capalleja and an Enameling Procedures and Techniques Symposium.

7th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Vives Fierro.
Presentation of the book “Temporada 1991-92” (1991-82 Season) and 5th Dinner with painters.
Watercolour Exhibition of Amadeu Casals with the presentation of volume II of the “Rusiñol Homages” collection, which was dedicated to him.

1992 6th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Carles Nadal.
Coinciding with the Barcelona 92 Olympic Games, the Gallery organizes the exhibition “Art Olympiad” and the “Olympic Dinner”.
1991 5th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Aguilar Moré.
Presentation of the book “Temporada 1989-90” (1989-90 Season) and 3rd Dinner with painters.
Special exhibition of the painter Miquel Cabanas, with the presentation of the volume I of the “Rusiñol Homages” collection, which was dedicated to him.
1990 Presentation of the book “Voliaina, dotze tries de poemes” (Voliaina, twelve assorted poems) by Miquel Cabanas.
4th Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Ignasi Mundó.
Presentation of the book “Temporada 1988-89” (1988-89 Season) and 2nd Dinner with painters.
1989

“First gathering of Biscuters (small 2 seats car) in Sant Cugat” motivated by the exhibition of painter Francesc Ortega.
3rd Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with a retrospective exhibition and presentation of the book dedicated to Francesc Cabanas Alibau
Projection of the film “Gràcia i Miracle” (Grace and Miracle) along with the exhibition of Miquel Cabanas.
The Rusiñol Gallery is offered a plaque on occasion of the “City of Palamos Prizes”, granted in attention to the quality of its programming aiming to the creation of collections.

1988 2nd Anniversary of the Rusiñol Gallery with an exhibition of Ceferí Olivé.
As of the month of September the Gallery starts editing the monographs on each exhibition.
1st Dinner with painters.
1987 1st r Anniversary of the Gallery with an exhibition of Miquel Cabanas.
1986 May 13th, the Rusiñol Gallery is inaugurated with an “Exhibition-Homage” formed by the artists: Josep Amat, Anna Benavent, Miquel Cabanas, Ramon Calsina, Francesc Camps Ribera and Joan Commeleran.
